Applications for Recycled Rubber

Many markets have opened up for the use of recycled rubber from post-consumer tyres. Many uses only require a rough shred or chip and the presence of some degree of steel and fibre contamination is not an issue. This is mainly when the larger sizes of chip are used for drainage products, embankments or alternative fuels. The use of material for equestrian surfaces must be as steel free as possible but fibre content is not so important and can in fact be beneficial to the riding surface.

When it comes to using rubber crumb in sports surfaces and children’s playgrounds it is imperative that the material is as clean as possible. The presence of steel fibres could cause injury to athletes, footballers and children alike should they fall on the surface. Therefore the efficient extraction of this contaminant is essential. The line at Murfitts contains no less than 18 magnets of various types to ensure the products are steel free. more >>
